GUATEMALA TWO MEN EXECUTED BY FIRING SQUAD

(13 Sep 1996) Natural Sound Two men were executed in Guatemala on Friday by a firing squad. The two were sentenced to death for the kidnap, rape and murder of a four-year-old girl three years ago. The execution was the first to take place in Guatemala in 13 years. Roberto Giron, 49, and Pedro Castillo Mendoza, 39, were sentenced to death for the murder of a four-year-old girl. These men kidnapped, raped and then killed Sonia Marisol Alvarez on the 18 April 1993.
