Traxxas Trx4 Defender Rock Crawling HD

We take the Traxxas TRX4 for a RC rock crawl after its first mods. We have upgraded the standard servo which is very weak as can be seen in this video https://youtu.be/-RRw8v2n5Nk where we took the trx-4 rock crawling in standard rtr trim. We went with a HiTEC digital servo model HS-8380TH and a Castle Creations 10 amp BEC powering the Hitec servo directly on 7.4V. The difference is like day and night compared to the standard servo. The truck turns when asked and is powerful enough to move the entire truck when the tyres are in a bind. If you go to a high powered servo be careful how you use the power as you create strain on other components. We have also removed the 2 Jerry cans and their holder from the Defender body. To our surprise they weigh almost as much as the spare tyre. We also flipped the front bar mount and pushed the bar all the way back in. Some trimming of the body up front was required to make it fit. These simple mods have really made a difference in how well the rig performs. More mods to come on this RTR RC.
