Create a new document 3840 x 2160 @ 150DPI. 2. Set Foreground and Background colors to default black and white (D) 3. Change Foreground color to 202020 4. Double-click the background layer to unlock it and rename it “Base” 5. Fill background with Foreground color (ALT+Backspace) 6. Go to Filter – Filter Gallery and add the following three filters a. Bottom Filter = Patchwork i. Square Size = 9, Relief = 15 b. Middle Filter = Crosshatch i. Stroke Length = 33, Sharpness = 13, Strength = 3 c. Top Filter = Sprayed Strokes i. Stroke Length = 20, Spray Radius = 25, Stroke Direction = Right Diagonal 7. Bring up Levels (CTRL+L) and drag the leftmost slider to the right = 75 8. Create a new Curves Adjustment Layer a. Use Preset = Darker (RGB) 9. Create a new layer (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+N) and name it “Color” 10. Change the Layer Mode of “Color” layer to Overlay and the Layer Opacity to 50% 11. Select the Brush Tool (B), make the size 1,400 and choose some bright blues, greens, purples, etc. and paint the background until it looks good to you. 12. Go to Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur a. Radius=8 13. Group all three layers and name the group “Background” ***70s Disco Gold Text*** 14. Select the Text Tool (T) 15. Choose disco font. For this tutorial I’m using Akka (link above) at 225pts 16. Type your text and fix kerning if needed 17. Apply the following group of layer styles a. Bevel & Emboss i. Style=Stroke Emboss, Technique=Smooth, Depth=100%, Direction=Up, Size=7, Soften=0 ii. Angles=90, Altitude=30, Use Global Light=CHECKED, Gloss Contour=Sawtooth 1, Anti-Aliased=UNCHECKED iii. Highlight Mode=Screen, Color=ffffff, Opacity=50% iv. Shadow Mode=Multiply, Color=000000, Opacity=50% b. Stroke i. Size=1, Position=Inside, Blend Mode=Normal, Opacity=70%, Overprint=UNCHECKED. ii. Fill Type=Color, Color=cc9900 c. Satin i. Blend Mode=Color Burn, Color=000000, Opacity=45% ii. Angle=90, Distance=65, Size=80 iii. Contour=Ring-Double, Anti-Aliased=CHECKED, Invert=CHECKED d.
