Plastic (w)Rap HD
My entry to the Plasticurious Video Contest 2017, I wrote and produced a rap song using only plastic every objects as the instruments. I talk about reducing reusing and recycling plastics, and the adverse impact of using plastic irresponsibly. I will include the lyrics down here as well: Slap the snooze I still want my sleep, Another ten minutes to count the sheep Soon in the shower And by the turn of the hour I’m feeling ready empowered To get out onto the street It’s breakfast time, I got the cereal meal, I got the yogurt in tow; you know I’m keeping it real, Throw it all in the bin, drop it off on the road, I keep recycling just make sure you keep track of the load, But lots of people don’t care, They throw it all in the trash, They only put out their trash, They do not sort out their trash, Why don’t they care for their trash? Why don’t they sort it for cash? Why don’t notice in their wastefulness they’re making a splash? These people need to be helped out if they don’t know that it’s a problem Reduce reuse recycle in that order would be awesome, get fabric bags for shopping and theyll use them rather often, And put them in a place where they’re not easily forgotten Look around you, Count on your fingers plastic items that surround you, Nearly everything you look at now is almost bound to, Isn’t it amazing plastic that we know we can do Every type of phone or tablet tech or toy that’s brand new, This bowl of cereal on a tray, (PLASTIC) My iphone and its capilano case? (yeah PLASTIC) The glasses that are covering my face? (PLASTIC) The beat that I am rapping on today? (PLASTIC) Its everywhere and it is here to stay (PLASTIC) Log onto your computer open a browser and search Pacific garbage gyre then watch what will emerge, A floating plastic debris mess that mixes with winds, animals choke on plastic bags or on six pack rings, How does this happen? Factories dumping their trash Litter in rivers and beaches is also making a splash, The decisions begin when we choose what to buy, less need to recycle if we reduce each time We’ve got to be more thoughtful when we are buying our stuff Is the plastic recyclable can we reuse it enough? 34 million tons in the US of A But only 7 percent of it is recycled today Recycle when you can, it’s really easy to do, Because environmental dumping can rapidly accrue, Don’t buy when you don’t need, please be taking a stand, If you don’t buy them they wont sell them that’s supply and demand, The saddest sight that I ever did see, Was a woodpecker peckin at a plastic tree He looks at me, and friend says he Things aint as sweet as they used to be Shel Silverstein implied that plastic is bad But its only a connotation that material has, Plus if theres one thing you’ve learned in this rap it’s you, Would think the woodpecker was probably a plastic too! I’ve dropped knowledge on you people It’s the time to act and change! Talk the talk walk the walk make a difference here today Plastic is a substance that
