South Africans are about to be hit with more significant tariff increases. Following an increase in petrol tonight at midnight, in which consumers should brace themselves to pay R16.13 per litre in land and coastal provinces will pay 15-rand-49 cents a litre; … last month the National Energy Regulator of South Africa or NERSA, announced an increase in electricity tariffs by 9.41% for the 2019/20 financial year. Both of these commodities are a necessity to the majority of South Africans and the combined effect is likely to snowball into other essential areas such as food, schooling, transport, clothing, medication and so on …. even small businesses and job creation will be effected.
