Taifun Foxie diesel, 0.44cc aprox.1960
Here we have a rare littel diesel. It was designed by Hans Hoernlein, the men behind the fantastic Taifun engines. The orginal engine was concept as a glow engine. The Graupner hobby company knows, that the future was in the glow engines. The Taifun diesel era comes slowly after many years to a end.Only the Bison and Sprint was with the Foxie the last Taifun Glow engines. Al the Foxie parts was already produced in big numbers, include the boxes, but only 5 engines was give for a test to modelers who was close employees or friends to the Graupner company....says the story. I dont know if the engine was not perform wel or the costs make the desision for Johanes Graupner, not to produce the engines. But because of this disagreement Hans hoernlein leafe the company after many years and produced later engines under his own label,..the "Profi" engines range. My littel engine is build as a diesel version by Ronald Valentine,...the master of miniature modelengines and close friend of Hans Hoernlein. Because of the reardisc induction, its possibel to run it at high rpms. The engine shown here is not yet run in and the prop was also on the big side, thats why it not runs at full speed....but for me?...a lovely littel diesel, thats for sure! Happy to have him in my collection. Thanks for following my hobby! Stil much moore on its way.... :-)
