Altaire Electro-Control Axiom HD

Altaire Electro-Control Axiom is an experimental original electronic music composition. A certain kind of swirling, phaser-type of pulsating rhythm vibration was attempted to be achieved here. Something possibly in the lines of 1960s Doctor Who, but not quite. From happy melodies, these morph into dark and resonating vibrations of a kind heard from an alien aircraft in motion. The OCET Rhythm Synthesizer VST provided the base background rhythm - 68 bpm fed into twin delay modules to create the effect somewhat like that of a spring reverb. The Hammerhead Rhythm Station Minipops a percussive beat to the OCET rhythms. The same Hammerhead rhythm was flanged, heavily filtered and processed by a dense reverb to create a strange squelching, metallic-slippery rhythm piece. This strange track provides the metallic pressure punctuation - like a piston steam engine. The next element is a texture collage - made up of an OCET shimmer fed through twin delays; a Hammerhead Visco rhythm processed by flanger, pitch-shifted with reverb; OCET tones with modulation flanger, phaser and twin delay units. The last element is very cyber-sounding from Doctor Who. A TS-404 sequence was processed by reverb - and this provided the "happy tone sequence". The next element is a second texture collage - three OCET tone sequences processed by twin delay units (one a metallic shimmer, one a glass shimmer, one a metallic ringing tone). An effect track of "alien wind" was created by taking an OCET shimmer sequence, and slowing the result down by a factor of 800%. This creates the strange wind - with no noise sources being used at all. Cyber-Flares (created by feeding a ring-modulated sinewave through the Valhalla Frequency Echo Effect VST) were slowed down to create a very strange rasping/flanging aircraft-like sound - very alien and inhuman. This sound marked the transformation into a darker manifestation of the composition. The TS-404 sequence was also slowed by 200% to create a darker variation of the happy sequence. The organ chords were created by the LMMS (Linux Multimedia Studio) and manipulated until a pleasing major chord was created. End reverberation, and a chordal rumble tone created by signal generation concludes the work. The visuals are entirely synthetic video synthesis creations to emulate the possibilities of the EMS Spectron Video Synthesizer with overlays reminiscent of scan-processed imagery. Non-additive mixing techniques were used for the UNIVAC data reels, and the strange celestial organism featured as well as the pseudo-mechanical light rotations. The result is pulsating, hypnotic, surreal and morphing into a darker manifestation of the light fantastic. An alien celestial organism features at the conclusion - posing questions on the nature of universal life and existence.
