FSS 2017 Endurance Lap HD
FSS 2019 is about to start tomorrow! Here is my second fastest Endurance lap of 2017 (GoPro stopped recording). Spain is always hard to drive. It’s like they are not even trying to build a fluent track. It’s always straight, chicane, straight, chicane, repeat that 10x. In some years (like 2017) they build some nice “aero sections” in between where you can relax a bit while you’re getting pressed into your seat with 2,5 g’s. Besides the cone lottery after the endurance event, Spain is a really enjoyable competition and always a great “end of Europe season”-Party with your friends from all over the globe. Keep an eye on the left front tire! Spain is usually the warmest competition. You can tell by the tires changing colors, that they stressed a lot. The R25B we used to run in previous years worked really well, even on the sticky painted off-track areas. This year’s LC0 with smaller diameter and softer compound may need some serious tire management throughout the endurance event. I’ll keep you updated on this topic. To expand you tires performance throughout the endurance it’s important to put your power down effective during the short sprints in between the chicanes. Sliding around to much will overheat your rear tires and will cost you too much laptime. Therefore, you need to adjust your car for maximum drivability and stability at corner exit. At the same time it needs to be agile at corner entrance for the hairpins. Active aero and active anti roll bars are useful for FS Spain. An aggressive front and a soft rear setup are also helpful.
