Devil May Cry: Shall never surrender HD

The first game in my birthday special: Devil May Cry 1. Released in 2001 by Capcom, Devil may cry was one of the first great PS2 games. It began as a Resident Evil game, but soon grew into its own franchise. The story takes place in an alternate universe, where everything is the same as our present day except that long ago, the earth was ruled by demons. Taking a stand against the Demon emperor Mundus cruel reign and oppression of the humans, a legendary demon, Sparda, defeated and sealed his fellow demons away in the demon world forever. He sired 2 sons with a human woman before dying. Years later, his son Dante hunts demons in a bid for revenge against the evil which killed his brother and mother. He is visited by a woman named Trish, who bears a remarkable resemblance to his own mother. She tells him that on the remote Mallet island, the demon emperor Mundus is about to return to earth. Dante explores the castle of Mallet, defeating countless demons and their generals (Phantom- The giant fiery spider, Nelo Angelo- The dark knight, Phantom- the essence of evil, and Griffon- the four headed eagle) Events take a shocking turn when it is revealed that the dark knight, Nelo Angelo, is actually his brother Vergil, corrupted by evil. Dante is forced to kill his brother, and then discovers that Trish is actually a spy for Mundus, and his resemblance to his mother is a trap to secure his trust in her. However, Trish begins to fall in love with Dante, and when he confronts her, she decides that she cant kill him. Dante feels a strange attraction to her, but leaves her to enter the underworld and confront Mundus. When he enters Mundus chambers, he finds Trish tied up and about to be killed. Mundus prepares to strike Dante down, but Trish breaks free and jumps in his way, killing her. In a fit of rage, Dante changes into a demonic form identical to Sparda and fights and defeats Mundus. As the castle collapses, Dante almost escapes, but falls and is trapped in the sewers beneath the castle. Dante finds a weakened Mundus entering the human world through a portal. Dante holds him back for a while, but realises it is futile, and prepares to charge at Mundus, and to bury them both underneath the castle. However, before he can charge, Trish arrives, resurrected, and gives Dante her power, which is the key to sealing Mundus in the demon world forever. As Munds is blown away, he promises that one day he will return and rule earth once more. Dante and Trish embrace, and They find an old biplane which they use to escape from the castle, and Dante and Trish become partners on demon hunting. The game was a huge hit, thanks to its drama, action, puzzles and intensive combo based combat. However, unlike the sequels, this one prioritised the drama and the puzzles above all else, and was heavily story driven. This was my favourite of the series, as the boss design was brilliant, and the whole game was well paced. Songs used: Sibling showdown- Devil May Cry 3 soundtrac
