Album co-produced by Rick Danko and backed by Dr. John and members of The Band for the hermit Bobby Charles from Abbeville,Louisiana.In his incredible and always out of the limelight artistic life Charles is responsible for many fine recording as a singer and as author.Charles is the writer of See you later Alligator(a hit by the most known Bill Haley),Walking to New Orleans and But I do.At end of 50's he became the first white artist on the Chess label but after having released seven singles without any succes Leonard Chess lost interest and cut hil loose in mid-1958.The sales of Bobby Charles were disappointing and Charles retreaded once again into his Abbevile hermitage to concentrate on songwriting.The Band invited Charles to play at their farewell concert The last waltz,but his contribution(Down South in New Orleans)was edited out of The last waltz movie but was included on the eponymous triple album.Albums with new material followed in 1978,1995,1998 and 2004.Charles was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall Of fame in 2007.in late 2009,Charles finished his final album Timeless co-produced with his long time friend Mac Rebennack:The album contained the song Happy birthday Fats Domino,a tribute to his idol,intended for Fats's 82nd birthday.Charles did not see its release: he died on January 14,2010mafter colapsing at his home in Abbeville.Street people.Long face.I must be in good place now.Save me Jesus.He's got all the whisky.Small town talk.Let yourself go.Grow too old.I'm that way.Tennessee blues.
