Cut pile tufting machine conversion. HD

Converting a cut pile tufting machine one a loop pile machine is very easy. All one needs to do is remove the block that engages the scissors. The way that the scissors work is by means of a small tab on the side. As the scissors move forward, this tab engages the block and cause them to close. When the scissors retract, a spring causes them to open. And the cycle repeats. On a loop pile machine, there are no scissors—only a fork. By removing this block we are preventing the scissors to engage and close; essentially making them act like the fork. Before removing the block, make note of the position so that you can return it to the same position so that the scissors will work properly. As a side note, if the face of the angled side of the block has a gouge in it, this indicates that the scissors are too tight. One possible solution is to reduce pressure from the contact spring. Only make very small adjustments. If you go too far things could get a little hairy. If this still does not fix the scissor issue, a more in-depth solution is necessary, but it goes beyond the scope of this demonstration. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Your mileage may vary. I hold no responsibility if you muck up your machine. It’s all on you, kid.
