Produced in partnership with Tuğçe’s long time collaborator Santi (Santiago Ferreira), who is known for his novel arrangements of Anatolian and Balkan music and rewriting Paraguayan folklore. With this new compilation, Tuğçe Kurtiş presents another take on her grandmother’s favorite songs through contributions by a wonderfully eclectic team of producers. The remix album begins with Acid Pauli’s enticingly atmospheric rendition of “Yıldızların Altında” (Underneath the Stars), followed by San Miguel’s characteristically heartful and soothing version. Álvaro Suárez then takes Yıldızların Altında decisively deep into the dancefloor with his sensual and hypnotic style, while Anatolian Sessions brings it home with the luring sounds of flute and kaval. The next track is the only remix of “Gözleri Aşka Gülen” (The One Whose Eyes Smile at Love) on the album where Alizarina fully embraces the song’s joyful spirit and creates moments of magic through his sublime clarinet lines. Then comes Rodrigo Gallardo who skillfully transports the Turkish vintage “Sevdan Olmasa” (Without Your Love) into the Andes through his folkloric flute and ritualistic vibe. Spy from Cairo presents yet another enchanting, idiosyncratically “Arabadub” rendition of this track with his delightful strings, deep baseline, and lush percussion. The album ends lavishly with an irresistibly groovy version of “Sevdan Olmasa” by Drumspyder who intricately weaves together hand percussion and electronic sounds into the finely sculpted grooves of the original track.
