HUMPHREY LYTTELTON AND HIS BAND: HEAT WAVE

OK, here comes a little tribute to the late great British trumpet player and entertainment legend Humphrey Lyttelton, or Humph as those who knew him and loved him called him. Like many others today I probably have more experience of hearing Humphrey Lytteltons dry and acid wit in the radio show Im sorry I havent a clue which he lead from 1972 up until his death in 2008. There are few if any radio shows that have made me laugh so much since I first got in touch with it some years ago when I was blessed with Internet and got the opportunity to listen to BBC. Apparently Humphrey Lyttelton wasnt too keen on ISIHAC himself according to his diaries but he still became one of the great heroes of comedy thanks to the show. I have got the impression that he was annoyed that people in general started to know him more from ISIHAC than for being the superb jazz trumpet player he was, and of course that is a pity. There are many tributes to Humph here on Youtube and mine is focusing on what he did best playing the trumpet. I dont think he would object to that.
