Stars in the Andromeda galaxy HD

Recently, astronomers have taken the largest and most detailed image of (part of) the Andromeda galaxy to date. We zoom into that image to see the separate stars of the galaxy. A direct demonstration that galaxies are indeed giant systems of billions and billions of stars! The image was taken as part of the PHAT survey using the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.
