Yoshitaka Azuma - Panzer Dragoon Main Theme Orchestral
Introducing Panzer Dragoon main theme by Yoshitaka Azuma, probably the best orchestral game soundtrack ever created. Probably one of the best songs ever. Probably the single most important piece of game sountrack, one that influenced all next generations of japanese and western developers alike. Yoshitaka Azuma was inspired to create this soundtrack by the 1982 Blade Runner soundtrack composed by Vangelis and the 1984 Dune soundtrack composed by Brian Eno and Toto. However the sound is not derivative in any way and manages to capture fully and enhance the atmosphere of Panzer Dragoon, a game already different in style and substance from his predecessors and successors. A blend of science-fiction and fantasy, almost, but not quite, entirely unlike Dune versus Tales of the Earthsea makes for one of the most imaginative games of the 90`s. "Panzer Dragoon (パンツァードラグーン, Pantsuā Doragūn) is a rail shooter released on the Sega Saturn in 1995, and later released on PC, PlayStation 2, and as an extra in Panzer Dragoon Orta for Xbox. It follows the story of Keil Fluge (he remains un-named in the American version), a member of a hunting party who becomes the rider of a powerful blue dragon. The game universe is set in the distant future, thousands of years after a great war between humans and their biologically engineered weapons. By the time of the game, humans have regained some level of organization, forming everything from small tribes to large nations. One nation, The Imperials, have discovered a tower that gave them access to large amounts of ancient weapons which they used to beat back and control the ever-present monsters in the world. The Imperials were corrupted by their power and became conquerors of other people as opposed to liberators from a violent world. " Source: wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer_Dragoon The Panzer Dragoon franchise saw 4 major installments on consoles with the last one on the original xbox when Sega went multiplatform - Panzer Dragoon Orta. As it failed to make a real impact at this point it`s unlikely that we`ll see a new game soon or a remake of the original for high def consoles, PC or Wii. All we can hope is that Sega will make piles upon piles of cash so investments in dormant franchises like Panzer Dragoon, Shenmue, Jet Set Radio or Space Channel 5 will not be a financial problem. We all love Sega don`t we ? Let`s buy their games :))
