This Indian classical dance piece is a new age depiction of devotion to the powerful goddess Durga, whose worship is often synonymous with the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram that celebrates the goddess’s slaying of the demon Mahishasura, and describes the joy she brings to this world. The dancers use Abhinaya and poses to bring alive the lyrics on the goddess while complex Nritta patterns adorn the instrumental sections. Choreographed by Chethana Yerramsetty, the dance is performed by Chethana Yerramsetty, Shyama Iyer, Chiinthu Sarvananthan, Reshma Shajan and Tejaswini Mohankumar.
