MP3: https://soundcloud.com/billythebard11... Hey people! Here’s my take on horor-b, also known as the chase theme from one of my favorite game series ever, Ao Oni. If you’ve never played a Ao Oni game then I suggest you do so right now, they are free to download and totally awesome (In my opinion). In honor of the games there’s even a little puzzle in this video that you can figure out if you want to! This piece was very fun to arrange. Since the original is just a 22 second loop and really more of a sound effect than a song I was able to get very creative with it, essentially this is an original song based on horor-b. For ultimate nerd goodness I wanted to keep as many references to the original as possible, so I used the same tempo and key as the original (which just so happens to be F) and also used a ton of the sound effects from the game as percussive and ambient effects. I had waaay too much fun with that. There’s a lot of experimental stuff from my side in this one such as polymetric riffs and grooves - That groove after the intro is in 28/8:4/4 for instance. My awesome friend Elias Lang was also kind enough to let me use his Digitech Whammy pedal which made for some very cool things I would never have came up with otherwise.
