Full Tutorial: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-boinc/ For anyone who doesn’t know BOINC is short for Berkley open infrastructure for networking computing. To put it simply this program enables people to contribute to a whole range of different projects. The program will download raw data from a certain project and process it. Once processed it will upload it to the back to the project server. This helps process data that would of otherwise take years to have been processed helping speed up certain analyses. In this particular tutorial I cover the steps on installing the SETI@HOME project. This is the most popular project and you will be helping analyse radio telescope data. There is a lot of other projects that you’re able to contribute to. This. However, it’s important to know that not all the projects can be run on the Raspberry Pi (ARM devices). If you’re going to be setting this all up via the command line, then you’re probably going to need to head over to the BOINC wiki page. This contains all the commands and settings that you need to know to setup the program up correctly. Since there are a ton of these commands and settings it would be almost impossible to cover it all within a reasonable time. The best way to set everything up is to do it via the GUI. It’s easy and everything is pretty self-explanatory. The only downside is that you will need to hook your Pi up to a screen and have a keyboard and mouse. I hope you get this Raspberry BOINC tutorial helps you with understanding what BOINC is and how to get it setup.
