Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg Interview, Pain & Gain - What do you get when you combine Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg and director Michael Bay? One muscle-filled, action-packed movie called Pain & Gain. The film is based on a 1999 series of Miami New Times articles about the brutal kidnapping, extortion, torture, and murder of several victims by an organized group of criminals that included a number of body builders. Tribute.ca spoke with Dwayne and Mark in Miami about bulking up for their roles and what it was like to work with Michael Bay. Mark also lets us know who is a bigger diva to work with—The Rock or his fuzzy former co-star, Ted. Pain & Gain movie synopsis: The Sun Gym Gang, consisting of bodybuilders Daniel Lugo (Mark Wahlberg) and Adrian Doorbal (Anthony Mackie), plot to kidnap Victor Kershaw, a wealthy businessman. Enlisting the help of newly-released criminal Paul Doyle (Dwayne Johnson), the gang tortures Kershaw and successfully get him to sign over all his assets. But things take a major twist when Kershaw recruits Detective Ed Du Bois (Ed Harris) to catch the criminals. Now, the Sun Gym Gang must find a way to silence Kershaw.
