Tumen River: The Road to Peace A grand expedition across the Korean Peninsula! Chapter 2 of the Arirang Special, "Borderless 1480" begins from the Tumen River to the East Sea, traveling the borderlands facing North Korea, China, and Russia. Security was harsher and stricter in the Tumen River than that in the Amnokgang River. However, across the barbed-wire fence was an active interaction between North Korea and China. Faced with only 15km to the East Sea, the young group had to reluctantly turn its course around at Fangchuan, China. However, the unfinished challenge began again in Russia, January 2016. From Vladivostok that harbors the invisible economic competition among the three countries, to Kraskino, a place filled with pain and sorrow of the Korean diaspora as well as the Anti-Japanese independence movement, the expedition further traveled onto Khasan, a place budding with new relationships evident in the Rajin-Khasan project. What is the message of these youngsters who continue to power through the cold, frozen East Sea? Through this documentary, we re-think our definitions of borders through looking at the lives and history of the borderland people.
