Tiny House Rocket Mass Heater: Minnie Mouse by Peter van den Berg HD

http://richsoil.com/heat Peter van den Berg shows us his tiny house rocket mass heater creation called "Minnie Mouse". This build is in a portable/skiddable cabin that is about 66 square feet and called "The Love Shack." Minnie Mouse is a barrel with a welded on grease drum. It contains a 4 inch J-tube rocket mass heater engine. Bricks are strategically placed inside to act as a mass and as a heat shield. It is typically suggested that a rocket mass heater should never contain any metal in the wood feed, the burn tunnel or the heat riser. This particular build does have a steel wood feed and burn tunnel. There is a thorough exploration of this in DVD 3 of "Better Wood Heat: DIY Rocket Mass Heaters" with the lid off of Minnie Mouse and we talk about all the innards. The design here is to create a bit of a stratification chamber. The exhaust is vented from the bottom of the barrel so the hottest gasses will stay near the top. The people staying in the love shack reported that they would have a fire in the evening and they would still be quite warm in the morning. It should be noted that the love shack door is uninsulated and has lots of gaps.
