Dubke Flashmob as Brisbane anti-Israeli apartheid activists continue campaign calling for the Boycott of SodaStream and the removal of SodaStream products from shops in Brisbane. SodaStream promotes itself as an ethical organisation providing an environmentally sustainable alternative to bottled soda drinks. These claims hid an ugly reality. SodaStream is an Israeli based company. It operates a major factory in an illegal settlement in Occupied Palestine. SodaSteam receives ongoing tax benefits from the Israeli authorities to encourage its operations in the illegal settlement in Occupied Palestine. Palestinians working at the SodaStream factory are employed in discriminatory and exploitative conditions, the direct result of the APARTHEID system Israel has established in Palestine. The SodaSteam factory receives rental subsidies and a direct cash payment from Israeli authorities in return for building its factory in the illegal settlement. The SodaSteam factory at Mishor Edomim is built on land stolen from the Palestinian people in violation of human rights and international law. Mishor Edomim is strategically located to create a continuous Israeli controlled barrier across the central West Bank, disconnecting the south from the north of the West Bank. It limits the movement of Palestinians in their own land, inhibits Palestinian economic development, and is a deliberate obstacle to the formation of a sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank. Municipal taxes paid by the SodaSteam factory in Mishor Edomim directly support the illegal and exclusively Jewish settlement of nearby Ma’aleh Adumim. Australia August 23 2014
