This compact sedan was first presented to the world as Project Aegea, as in the Aegean Sea, which is between Greece and Turkey. By strange coincidence Tipo’s predecessor, Fiat Linea was also made in Turkey. And this is also where Fiat Tipo is made. So for the Turkish market it’s Fiat Egea. And how did Fiat come up with Tipo? Some of you may remember a hatchback made in late 1980s and early 1990s. Fiat decided the Tipo name is still associated with the brand, and decided to use it again for its compact segment offer.
