The New Black History Show 2 Part 1

06.03.2008
THE NEW BLACK HISTORY RATIONALE: While American History often is portrayed as a series of seminal events developing and extending the concepts of freedom enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, it just as frequently is portrayed in popular media as a march of developments in the Industrial Revolution. Partly, that is an affect: The Industrial Revolution, begun in England and France with the invention of usable steam engine pumps for mining, the rise of canal transport, the development of efficient wind-powered transport, and water- and wind-powered milling equipment, propelled the European drive to invest the New World with colonies. Then the struggle over economic primacy with the rising colonists, attempting to produce their own Industrial enterprises, was a key driver for the battles that became the American Revolution.
