Move as a freelancer if you will not have a team on Upwork: You may select the free Basic membership plan or the Freelancer Plus plan for $10/month (learn more). Your profile will display your own name and photo. Your freelancer account won’t be associated with any team members. Your profile will be for an independent, individual freelancer. If you already have an Upwork account, you’ll have the option to combine it (“merge” the two accounts) or replace it with your Elance information. You’ll make this choice when you accept your invitation. Moving forward, any work you do on Elance will accrue to both your Elance and Upwork profiles. If you have an Elance client account, we will automatically bring it to Upwork as well (with its reputation). Move as an agency if you will have team members on Upwork: You’ll be enrolled in the Agency Plus plan (free for two months, $20/month thereafter). See Section 3 for details. Your team members on your Elance account will automatically be brought over to your Upwork account. As the agency owner, you’ll have a freelancer profile for yourself (with your own name and photo), and an agency profile (with your business name and logo). All members of the agency will also have profiles (with their own names and photos). Your clients and prospective clients will generally be viewing, evaluating, and hiring based on your agency members’ individual profiles (not the agency profile). If you already have an Upwork account, you’ll have the option to replace it entirely with your Elance information, or simply continue to use your current Upwork account without copying over any Elance information (or team members). Unfortunately, we are unable to combine (or “merge”) Elance and Upwork accounts for Agencies. If you have an Elance client account, unfortunately we are not able to copy that to Upwork when you move as an agency. To copy over your client account, you would need to move as a freelancer (not an agency) and then create a new agency on Upwork.
