Total Physical Response (TPR)

Dr Diane Larsen-Freeman presents a series of videos accompanying her book Techniques & Principles in Language Teaching, Oxford 2013, now in its 3rd Edition ( (available as Kindle too) In this video, Dr Larsen-Freeman introduces TPR, sometimes called the Comprehension Approach, a method created by James Asher to replicate child language acquisition processes in which there is a lot of listening and noticing before actual speech emerges. The lesson demonstrates some typical techniques in TPR involving giving commands.
