Phil Sgrosso from As I Lay Dying - "The Only Constant is Change" verse riff HD

This song is from The Powerless Rise, released in 2010 on Metal Blade Records. TUNING - D Standard One of my favorite AILD riffs just because it’s sort of odd and not the most straightforward but is still mean and aggressive. The notes are triplets but it’s still in 4/4 so it gives it a little bit of “swing”. I look at the riff as 6 parts. 2 parts notey, 2 parts loopey (with the root note change to 5th fret), 1 part back to open with guitar harmonies, last part with chunky mean power chords with an extended tag before entering verse B. The demo name for this was “Song 1” so this was apparently the first track I submitted during the TPR writing period. Btw, most demo titles of ours are much funnier and amusing than boring “Song 1” haha
