Human echolocation - Daniel Kish, Sound Vision - The Consciousness of Seeing with Sound

06.07.2013
Echolocation explained by its main proponent and master, Daniel Kish, at the 2013 Arizona consciousness conference, Toward a Science of Consciousness. This is what it is like to be a bat...just like being a human...because of same perception and awareness of same AFFORDANCES. "...and I asked him, What would it be like to be a hawk?" (0:38). Exactly!! Daniel shows that the experience is not of sensations...but of what we in EP call "direct perception"...of affordances (the perceivable opportunities for action - perceivable because of ambient information, in sound). It is a pity he does not yet seem to have access to these philosophical ideas for they might help him immensely to convey his experience to others, especially the hoard of academics interested in his case. But as is, he explains very well just what his phenomenology is all about.
