This year they will be performing a themed skit drill featuring the beloved characters from L. Frank Baum’s “the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” 2019 als marks the 80th anniversary of the much beloved movie, “The Wizard of Oz” with its first release in 1939. The San Diego County Fair will celebrate all things Oz with their 2019 theme “Oz-some!” With the Mission Statement of “Enjoy life, give back and commit to the ride”, the dedicated and talented women of the Mane Attraction Drill Team love to ride and execute precision drills, participate in parades, and perform at charity events. Founded in 2006 by Gina LaRock and Sherrie Sedivy, the team practices in Norco, California, which is known as Horse Town USA. The primary charity they ride for is the No Drama Ranch (NDR) Therapeutic Riding Facility, which teaches children and adults with disabilities to ride horses. NDR is a non-profit organization located in Norco, California and the team donates more than half its earnings to the facility. Watching the drill team perform, you will find horses representing many breeds, such as the Quarter Horse, American Paint, American, Mustang, Arabian and Andalusian. Under the reins of their exceptional riders, these magnificent animals have learned to rate one another’s speed and accept each other’s close proximity. The Mane Attraction Drill Team has participated in many parades including the 2017 and 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade. They also were in the 2016 Hollywood Christmas parade and Mother Goose parade in El Cajon, California. The team performs drill yearly at their hometown event, Day of the Cowboy, along with performances at local rodeos, horse shows, fairs and charity events.
