DIY Airbrush Booth HD

04.03.2019
I built this Airbrush Spray Booth from easily found parts and about 1 - 2 hours of build time. I like that the booth self-stores along with the other related items; ie. airbrush, air hose, lazy Susan, etc. All parts were purchased at either Home Depot or Lowe’s, and honestly, it took more time to find the right parts than to build it! Total Cost $92 --- PARTS LIST --- (1) Plastic tub #1 and lid - This will make up the air chamber and where the fan will be mounted. - Hefty 34 quart; 23.98 w x 16.18 d x 6.6 h ($9.98) (2) Plastic tub #2 and lid - This will make up the painting chamber itself. The bottom will be cut out and will be attached to the lid of tub #1 and will house the filter. - Hefty 66 quart; 23.98 w x 16.18 d x 13.05 h ($11.98) (3) Bathroom Ceiling Fan - 50 CFM ($14.97) (4) Furnace filter - 14x20 ($11.97) (5) Electric replacement cord - 14 Gauge ($14.68) - I did not install switch, but wish I had (6) Exhaust tubing - 3”x8’ flex foil (a bit too fragile, try to find in plastic) - Screws, bolts, insulating tape, clamps etc. - $16.30 —— BUILD NOTES / PHOTOS — (documented after the fact - hope it helps!) - Remove the bottom of the larger tub, take care to leave a border for later steps! https://i.imgur.com/RALTOC4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/45dQBty.jpg - Trace bottom of large tub onto the lid of the smaller tub and cut out. https://i.imgur.com/6sNbmKI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iHjUEY8.jpg - Attach Tub to Lid. I used weather seal tape between the tub and lid and used small self tapping screws to attach tub to lid. https://i.imgur.com/dIpfKf8.jpg - Trace out the bathroom fan on the bottom of the smaller tub. Cut opening and attach fan. I had to install small angle braces to the fan so that I had something to attach to the tub. https://i.imgur.com/ED7OGm9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VaUarVZ.jpg -- Install electrical cord/plug and suggest adding a switch. https://i.imgur.com/8uW79o6.jpg - Install the furnace filter to the lid of the smaller tub- it should fit tightly https://i.imgur.com/ixUzlk4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1BoOveI.jpg - Attach the flexible exhaust hose to the fan https://i.imgur.com/K9lNO93.jpg - One last thing I did was add a hinged support under the fan to provide stability to the Booth. https://i.imgur.com/RLmdHFN.jpg - And, here is what it looks like ready to use! https://i.imgur.com/qZRv2T4.jpg - When done painting, simply remove the smaller tub from the larger tub and insert it into the larger tub along with all your stuff and put the remaining full lid on top! I also added LED lights to the inside. https://i.imgur.com/cv0WAIk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cv0WAIk.jpg
