Guillermo Rigondeaux Crushes Willie Casey TKO 1

20.03.2011
Irish challenger Willie Casey was stopped in the first round of his WBA super-bantamweight title bout by holder Guillermo Rigondeaux in Dublin. Cuban Rigondeaux, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, had Casey in immediate trouble after a piercing body shot. Two knockdowns followed before a halt was called after two minutes and 38 seconds of the opening round. Casey, 29, landed a shot at the WBA belt after winning the European title last November. The Irishman was granted the world title chance despite having only 11 professional fights. Rigondeaux, despite having only eight professional bouts, is a veteran of over 400 amateur fights, and as well as Olympic golds has won two World Championship golds, a Pan American Games gold, and seven consecutive Cuban amateur national titles.
