CLASSIC is a popular NET-TV series that re-examines vintage film and television genres. In this special episode, co-hosted by actor Dan Roebuck (Matlock, Lost, Getting Grace) and Brooklyn journalist Ed Wilkinson (editor-in-chief of The Tablet newspaper), explore this historic and beloved family owned Western theme park and recreation center in Stanhope, New Jersey. Wild West City features authentic re-enactments of historic western gun battles, pretty saloon gals and bar room brawls. Audience participation is encouraged, so Dan and Ed join in the action: a stunt fight, a stage coach robbery, a thrilling train ride and a corral full of horses as they encounter several of the professional stuntmen and actors who demonstrate the excitement of the Old West. They also find a small chapel in the woods (how often is there a chapel in a theme park?) and discover the rarely heard religious verse of a popular cowboy song. Informative interviews with the owners of Wild West City reveal some fascinating insights into the daily operation of the park, its origins, its storied past, and its future survival.
