TV Guide Channel footage (April 10, 1996)
Although many believe that the TV Guide Channel was a rebranding of the Prevue Channel which took effect on February 1, 1999 following the acquisition of Prevue Networks, the popular magazine did indeed exist as an on-air program listing service before merging, often appearing on pay-per-view networks or other pay channels when unsubscribed. This listing comes from a Washington, DC area cable provider (Channel 64 on Cable TV of Montgomery County, Maryland), and some of the features that were already a part of the rebranding, including red for movies, green for sports, and purple for pay-per-view were already present. The local event crawl at the bottom would be replaced with on-screen graphics by the rebranding. Among the promos featured include an HBO, Cinemax, The Disney Channel, the USA network (just before the change to the star logo), Waterworld, The Brothers McMullen, Losing Isaiah, Tommy Boy, Batman Forever, and more.
