From Homeless to UFC champion - Francis Ngannou HD
Francis Ngannou is a French mixed martial artist currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship with the record of 4 wins and 0 losses. Born into a modest family in Batié, Cameroon, Francis always tried to escape a life of poverty in hopes of finding something better in a foreign setting. So, after watching a prime Mike Tyson match, he decided to move to Paris, believing that boxing might provide a way out of poverty. Life in France wasn’t easy at all, until one day Francis wandered into a MMA gym. Fernand Lopez, the owner, allowed him to attend an MMA class for beginners and he immediately understood that Francis could become a great fighter. He asked to keep his bags in the gym because outside wasn’t safe for him,” Lopez said. “That’s the moment I knew he was homeless. I offered for him to sleep in the gym. Meanwhile, we started to work on everything to get him a decent place to live.” With Lopez’s help, Francis turned pro on November 2013 and made his UFC debut on December 2015. Meanwhile, he began to set up charities in his native country, buying a space to start his own gym. “I want to give some opportunity for children like me who dream of this sport and don’t have an opportunity like me.. And today, they see me, and they are dreaming”, Francis Ngannou.
