When describing a diagram in task one, first examine the chart or diagram given and look at the main relationships displayed. Next, you will need to organize your report and make numbered notes that you can refer to when writing your entry. A helpful tip for memorizing sequencing vocabulary is to use the acronym FONTAAB, which stands for firstly, once, next, then, after, afterwards, and before. These are words that should be incorporated into your entry to present a sequence of events. You can also incorporate the passive voice in your entry, because it is commonly used to describe diagrams. Instead of repeating vocabulary throughout your entry, remember to paraphrase in order to increase the variety of your words. Also, a more complex tip is to use conditional sentences, also known as “if-then” statements. These sentences show cause and effect scenarios. Remember to end your entry with a summary sentence of what you have stated in your answer. These tips will help improve your entry on describing a diagram.
