San Diego Air & Space Museum Replica Wright Brothers Engine Running HD

To commemorate the 118th Anniversary of the Wright Brothers first powered flight, the San Diego Air & Space Museum ran an exact reproduction of the engine the brothers used for their first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. The original Wright Brothers’ engine was designed and built for by Charles E. Taylor, and the Museum’s reproduction was built from scratch by Museum Restoration volunteers. As a special treat, Apollo 8 Lunar Module Pilot Bill Anders stopped by a made a few comments to the assembled crowd about the importance of innovation in the history of flight. In addition to being part of the first crew to travel to the Moon in December 1968, Anders also is famous for taking the famous “Earthrise” photo.
