Make IELTS Task 2 Brainstorming Better and Faster
Today you’ll learn the tricks to make IELTS Task 2 brainstorming easier and faster. Visit ielts.allearsenglish.com for the simplest and most effective IELTS strategies. Do you have problems brainstorming? Maybe coming up with ideas is stressful, or you don’t feel like you are able to come up with the right ones. Or, perhaps you’re spending too long brainstorming, and you still aren’t sure of your ideas when you start writing. Let us help! Firstly, don’t write down everything you think of. Many IELTS teachers tell you to write down all of your ideas, as many as you can. This wastes time! The fact is, you only need to write enough for each body paragraph- one or two reasons, supported with details and examples. And, yes, you should be brainstorming your details and examples as well. That way, when you do start writing, you only have to think about vocabulary, grammar and linking words. Dividing your focus like this is extremely useful, so you aren’t trying to think about everything at once. Example brainstorm for one body paragraph: Advantages of school uniforms Not know socioeconomic class at first glance, put all students on equal footing immediately, less bullying School in New York City, PS 182, instituted uniform policy in 2014 Since then, 80% fewer violent incidents on school premises Notice how specific I get with the support. Try to come up with examples/details that feature real people, real places and real times. Of course, I made up that example, but it is logical and appropriate, so it’s great to have in the essay! Now it’s your turn to practice brainstorming! In our online IELTS course, 3 Keys IELTS, we give you all the strategies and practice you need to score highly on all parts of the IELTS exam.
