Before an airplane take-off the pilot has to perform an EI which stands for an external inspection of the airplane. Meet SAS pilot Robert Gustafsson who began his career at SAS in 1986, and see how he gets an airplane ready for take-off. Robert Gustafsson currently flies a Boeing 737. It is necessary to do an EI before an airplane takes-off and in this video the SAS pilot Robert Gustafsson shows us how it is done! Before an airplane is ready for take-off the pilot has to check the shock absorbers, the wheels and the metal on the frame. Afterwards the wings and engine must be checked as well. When checking the engine before an airplane take-off it is important to make sure nothing is damaged and that the engine turns correctly. Do you also love when the airplane takes-off? The wheelwell is a very important part of the airplane and therefore the wheelwell must be OK before an airplane take-off. After the wheelwell-check Roberts tells that if it was snowing before an airplane take-off he would have to check if the wings needed de-icing, but because of the rain it is not necessary this time. To make sure the airplane is ready for take-off SAS pilot Robert Gustafson performs the EI, external inspection, one more time for the reversed side of the plane. This video about airplane take-off tells that SAS pilots are very careful with the technical equipment before a take-off. It is important for SAS pilots to make sure that everything is all right before an airplane take-off and therefore every detail is checked.
