I talk a lot about calling horses names like spooky, scared, nervous, sour, fearful -- this is a prefect example of how humans see the world and horses see it differently. This would not happen to a horse, they are aware, they look for danger, they know this can happen. Humans, are safe, complacent, are not aware and do not see things as dangers. This parent will never see a bird in the sky the same way. Why, because this experience has forever changed the way the see birds. Just like older more experienced horseman. When they say the slow way, they know if you go fast, you miss something and it will cost you. As fast as this happened, a horse could either get into danger or get you hurt. Being aware when working with horses, not being too relaxed that you get so comfortable and think you are so good that you drop your guard. Lesson like this can be costly or they can be valuable learning experiences. The outcome here was good learning. Had the Eagle hung on, the lesson would have taught the Eagle a bad lesson. That lesson being I can snag children. And the lesson to the parents would be to blame the Eagle for being bad, mean or evil. Make no mistake, this Eagle was being a Eagle, nothing more, nothing less. The Eagle was NOT being mean or bad. This Bird, a predator, was hunting for food, and things that know they are food are aware of the bird. Why do rabbits run when a plane shadow passed over them?
