Introduction and welcome to symposium by James A. Ganz, Curator, Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco "Zorn and Impressionism," Per Hedström, Director of Exhibitions, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm As a curator, Per Hedström specializes in Scandinavian painting from the late nineteenth century. Highlights among the exhibitions he has organized include The Peredvizhniki: Pioneers of Russian Painting (2011), Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (2008), Impressionism and the North (2002), and Strindberg: Painter and Photographer (2001). He has contributed essays to numerous publications and exhibition catalogues, mainly in the field of nineteenth and twentieth-century Scandinavian art. For his PhD dissertation, he studied murals in Swedish school buildings from 1870 to 1940.
