Empowering Women through Community Radio HD

Radio remains the most powerful, and yet the cheapest, mass medium for reaching large numbers of people in isolated areas. Community Radio is an important tool for integration of women from a rural background, into the mainstream, and for rapid diffusion of important messages to a particular community. It has helped women to understand the importance of literacy and their contribution in building a better society. Community radio has helped women to develop a sense of self-respect, self-reliance, economic independence and equality in status with men. BBD Radio, in this context, has brought about a major change in Uttardhawna Village, Lucknow and is working hard to provide a platform of information and opportunities to the women of this village. The filmmaker would like to express her immense gratitude towards the authorities of BBD Education Group Lucknow and BBD Community Radio 90.8 fm, for its valuable inputs and contribution for the successful fruition of the documentary film.
