I start off by singing the word "what". To me, the word "what" is the single best word that you could use for a vocal chopped melody because of its form. The attack of the word "wh" and sustain "ahhh" work very well when attempting to create a melody with something like a single word. I drop the vocal chop into the ESX24 sampler after recording it. The sampler is the plugin that will enable us to make our melody out of the vocal chop. Next, I go on and add the essential plugins that I feel every vocal recording needs. The first is the EQ, then the reverb, then finally the compressor. After I get these effects on the vocal, I move onto messing around with layering to get these vocals sounding fat and full. This is essential because without these layers, your melody could sound weak and lack energy. Also, i like to separate the with reverb and have layers with little to no reverb. This vocal chop melody was built in logic pro x and is inspired by artists like San Holo, Vanic, Mike Posner, Skrillex, Diplo, Major Lazor, DJ Snake, Flume (the chords), and Marshmello style vocal chops.
