The structure of past continuous tense is : Subject + was / were + base form + ing + object + Extension. Example : I was eating rice . He was playing football. On the other hand, in past perfect continuous tense , there will be for and since along with period of time. The structure of the affirmative sentence of past perfect continuous tense is : Subject + had been + v1 + ing + object + extension+ since /for+ time.
