*Nicks POV* Hey son, hows it going? My dad wheeled and parked next to me. I sat in my new means of transportation and starred out the window, hoping that one of the faces would be Aleaces. Hey. Im okay. Its hard not being able to just get up and walk. I replied. I know, but you get used to it. After the first week or so, you get on to it and it just becomes normal. Lucky for you, this wont be permanent. He said patting me on the thigh. Who cares if I didnt feel it, it was still nice to know someone cared about me. Dad, they said it MIGHT not be permanent. I emphasized the point on might as to not get both of our hopes up. I know, but, Ive got a crazy feeling that a miracle is going to happen soon. And I prayed for this to be it. He wheeled around and grabbed my bag of clothes. ready to head home boy? For sure. I was relieved to finally go home and see if anyone had called about Aleace. Race ya? my dad called as he opened the door and sped out. It was dark outside and rain had been falling for an hour. A message was on the machine saying that Aleace had not yet been found but they are making sure to go out of their way as to find her. My heart was aching at not knowing if she was okay. Just to think that she was just your average nerd at the back of the classroom, was now missing and that was the only thing I cared about. I was watching when I saw a figure go by outside the window. My heart started to race thinking that a burglar was creeping outside. I wheeled over toward the door and opened it. The rain was crashing down on the steps and there was a soaking wet Aleace. Aleace! Your back! Your okay! I screamed at her and went in for a hug. But she backed away quick. Aleace, areare you okay? What did he do? Ill get my parents and we can take you to the hospital. I was about to turn around when she finally spoke. Her words shaky, her voice crushed and muffle from the rain. Nick, dont. I just came by to let you know that Im okay. She stood as still as a building and didnt move a muscle. I was shocked. Aleace, whats wrong, why dont you want to come inside? I didnt understand why she was being so stubborn. Why was she rejecting me? I cant do this Nick, I dont want to be caught by the cops, I dont want to go to the hospital, I just want to be alone. I want to be by myself.
