Web of life in Government Middle School HD
If we have to pick one topic to teach middle school children about nature, it is the Interconnectedness between us and the natural world. This has to be taught in an interactive way so that children will understand this concept in a deeper and rich manner. Here, in this video, students of Government Middle School, Kannakankadu in Tamil Nadu are learning about our interrelationship with nature through the web of life game, which has been used by nature educators for many years. When Ravi Sundaram sir, an enthusiastic teacher at Government Middle School, Kannakankadu wanted a video of this activity, I couldn’t stop myself from making a quick edit on this. According to current estimates, 80% of all Indian schools are Government schools. They have very little or no exposure to nature and conservation education. That’s why we must equip them and facilitate teachers to work on nature education with children in a sustained manner. This will go a long way in creating ecologically conscious citizens. Filmed by Rameshwaran and Kolanchi Rakesh Thank you to Wildlife Conservation Society-India and Wildlife Conservation Trust - WCT for enabling me to reach out these to schools and build a network in Tamil Nadu.
