So I totally forgot to tell you to be sure the proper USB drivers are installed on your windows pc for your device. You can download and install the Samsung Kies Application from the link below and it will install the drivers for you. Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch! Check your device model via Settings - About device - Model number be sure to download the appropriate files for your device from chainfire. Unzip the file you downloaded from http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ you should have 3 files: Odin3-v1.85.exe, Odin3.ini, and CF-Auto-Root-t0ltecan-t0ltevl-sghi317m.tar.md5 (for the Samsung SGH-I317) Run Odin3-v1.85.exe by right clicking on it and selecting "run as administrator" Connect the phone to your computer via USB you should get a yellow box showing a comport number when the phone is succesfully connected.
