Living TINY in 186 Sq Ft HD

10.10.2019
Today we walk you through our tiny apartment in the DC metro area while discussing the costs of the 3 tiny spaces we have lived in. This space is only 186 sq ft and critical to our log cabin success. Follow us on Instagram @bellwetherfields. Welcome to our tiny apartment! We live inside the beltway, close to metro and a fantastic commute to our city jobs. A fantastic commute in our area is (~10-20 minutes). The average commute for DC is about 45 minutes one way. We have 7 designated spaces in this tiny apartment, the foyer/entryway, the landing strip/bookshelf storage, the bathroom, the living room, the closet, the kitchen and the bedroom. All in 186 square feet! As we come into the space you see the first of 3 Elfa shelving from the Container Store installations. I have used this product for years and it really has so many uses and helps keep us organized. Reusable and reconfigurable, we have moved Elfa with us from place to place. Right now (Oct 2019) Elfa shelving is 25% off! Here’s the link: https://www.containerstore.com/campaign/shelvingSale2019 This is a total coincidence, the Container Store does these sales on Elfa every year, but this is the perfect time to go and try some Elfa for yourself! We couldn’t recommend it more. Moving on in the tour we show you our tiny bathroom, too small for a tub. The shower is tiled all the way to the ceiling and we liked the feel of showering in it so much that we did the same thing in our bathroom at the cabin. Check it out in our log cabin tour here: https://youtu.be/TYIEWynKBh4 The couch is from Restoration Hardware and was purchased mainly because the of the size. The first tiny house we lived in had a custom door (read tiny) and a normal sized couch wouldn’t fit through it, so we got this one. It has been fantastic and held up really well. Also, because of its size we never have to worry about it fitting in our tiny spaces, the doorway to this apartment has a super sharp turn but we were able to fit the couch in without any issue. The closet is filled with Elfa! Not a standard depth for hanging clothes I really used the baskets in the Elfa to maximize storage and to keep all our folded clothes organized. They have these great dividers which I find incredibly useful. This closet is the biggest tiny house closet we have ever had! The apartment kitchen has full sized appliances and is basically a normal house kitchen, only in a tiny space. Also the biggest applies we have ever had in a tiny space. The bed is full sized and tucks up in the last available corner of the apartment. We have always slept on a full sized bed and the first time we ever got a queen sized mattress is recently in the log cabin! A queen sized bed feels HUGE compared to sleeping in a full sized. So much luxury. This apartment for this area is incredibly affordable. The neighborhood we live in is filled with million dollar houses and to find a tiny space that has a tiny rent was difficult to do. This 186 sq ft apartment
