1997-2003 F150 Starter & Battery Cable Replacement HD
The replacement battery cable is https://amzn.to/2E0qhJQ - part # WC-95760 or 2L3Z-14300-AA So in this video I show you the replacement of the battery cables and starter on my 2003 F150 5.4L. The problem I had was when the temperature dropped extremely cold the truck would not start. The engine would not crank over, all I heard was a single click. Upon closer inspection the positive battery cable terminal was corroded quite a bit so it definitely needed replacement. Plus, the starter was original so was worth getting it checked out since it had nearly a quarter of a million kilometres on it. In the end replacing the full cables from the battery to firewall to starter, and replacing the starter fixed the problem. What I show here should apply to 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 Ford F150s with the 4.2L V6, 4.6L V6, and 5.4L V8. There may be slight differences based on the engine, and this process may apply to other years and models of vehicles. I suspect this also applies to V8 RWD cars from Ford such as Crown Vic, Town Car, etc.
