This is a groove box based sampler with an x0x style step sequencer. Originally released in 1999 - 2000 alongside other Electribes such as the ER1 and EA1. I bought this in Paris for €160 after talking the guy down from €200 due to its condition. It can hold 150 samples at a sample rate of 32khz. Its a fuzzy sounding box but has plenty of character. Nothing is hidden deep in menus so all your performance and effects controls are right on the surface and ready to be messed with. The effects include a global delay, and 11 fx which can be turned on per part or sample. These include, Reverb, Flanger/Chorus, Phaser, Ring Modulation, Pitch Shift, Compressor, Distortion, Decimator, Isolater, Resonant Filter and Wah. There is also an audio input which you can process with the onboard fx too. On board sampling is possible but you must be aware that it can only hold 90 seconds of samples. You can also load samples onto the machine via SmartMedia cards. Banks and patterns can also be saved onto the cards so you can share your projects or create space for new samples and patterns on the device. You can record your performance into the device but all steps will be quantised. Motion sequences for fx, delay, pitch, pan, volume and filter can be recorded and are not quantised. Its a really fun way to record melodies by using the pitch knob. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GEAR USED Korg Electribe Sampler ES1 iPad Air 2 running iMaschine by Native Instruments Urban Ears aux cable Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 Soundcard Shot on iPhone 6 Edited in iMovie, Afterlight and Vue Audio Recorded using Ableton Live 10 Standard Joby Gorilla Pod tripod used.
