E minor ( Em ) vamp jamtrack
jam/vamp/backing track for musicians a bit of scale theory: note:all scales are talked aboutusing the asumption that they will be used with the root E. feel free to move them around to diferent keys to find out what sound good Im going to go over a little theory for this track first the main scale i think people will be using: Lydian: 1, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, 7 The lydian scale as i said will give a strange sound but might go well with the keyboard do to the chromatic run down of B A# A G# the only note played in the entire piece not in the scale is A and if your really brave you can try to switch to Ionian(the majorscale) when the A is played aeolian: 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7 the aeolian scale might be a bit strange over this track do to 3 notes in the piece not in the scale at all ( Eb Bb and G#) the Bb and G# being the bigest problems. the Bb will give it a dark sound of very early eighties metal that tried to be as dark as posible (refer to "am i evil" by diamond head/metallica) and the G# is called the major third because it is the main note of a scale that can tell you if it major or minor, aeolian having a G which is the minor third could cause issues however, it may cause a tone like an old blues uses the G# to cause tension(aswell as the Bb) The harmonic minor is the same scale with natural 7th tone meaning it has the Eb and the hungarian minor has the natural 7th and the #4 which gives it the Bb and the Eb but the G# would still be an out of key tone phrygian: 1, b2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7 phrygian is almost the same as aeolian but it has a b2 giving it a much darker tone however still not carrying the Eb G# or the Bb cause all the same problems. the prygian dominant is the same scale but with a major 3rd giving it the G# and making a major scale but still dark in nature locrian: 1, b2, b3, 4, b5, b6, b7 most definitely the darkest scale in the major scale and the brother of the diminished/whole tone half tone scale it is the same as phrygian but with b5 giving it the Bb and still having the big problem with the G# along with this scales long to resolve to a note that is not really meant to be the tonic(root) and the Eb is still not included. that is all the scales i can think of that would be common over this if you think of any please leave a comment and if you would like more detail on the scales then send me a message and will reply to you and maybe make a video about it. thank you and happy jamming
